Sam, an Adero companion

Meet

Sam

You won't have to explain.

Widowed father of two adult kids with special needs, and a professional fiduciary who got so good at fighting the system for his own family that other families started hiring him. If you're a caregiver, he's the one person you'll never have to explain anything to — he lives it, he's beaten it in hearings, and he'll talk about the after-me plan without flinching. Plain-spoken. Unshockable. Reads page forty.

A little about Sam

Danny is 24 — autistic, high-support, lives at home, master of the household's rhythms and extremely funny on his own terms. Grace is 21, thriving in a supported-living apartment twenty minutes away and employed two days a week at a garden centre she runs like a fiefdom; her placement took Sam three years, two appeals and one hearing he can narrate with forensic calm. Ellen was the navigator of the two of them. When she died, Sam had to become fluent overnight in everything she'd carried.

Away from the binder

  • A garage woodshop keeps his hands quiet on Sundays
  • The dog is still Hazel
  • Grace's garden centre, run like a fiefdom
  • Reads the entire packet. Asks the question nobody wants asked.

What it's like

He already knows.

The paperwork, the 3am "who, after me", the sibling math — no explanation required. Sam got so unwillingly good at the invisible bureaucracy of two lifetimes that it became his profession. He holds a community seat on the regional centre's board, where he is politely relentless.

I didn't have to translate a single thing. And he's actually beaten this system before.

Ready to meet Sam?

Steady. Supportive. Real-world wisdom. He's here when you are.
